From Fashion to Faces

Welcome to a new feature we will be doing every so often here on The Art of Beauty! Fashion and makeup go hand in hand, as both influence and inspire one another, and it is relatively impossible to see one without the other. We will be taking collections and creating fun and different makeup looks to go with the designers inspiration! First up, Erdem’s pre-fall collection which showcased the designer’s feminine and proper silhouettes with bright citrus hues and their signature floral prints.

The entire collection brings late spring and warmer weather to mind, while still being wearable come the cooler months. Tangerine lipstick is definitely the best way to interpret this collection, and alongside electric blue liner and nude nail lacquer this can be transitioned into a bold look appropriate for day or night.

Tangerine lipstick or lipgloss is a universally flattering shade, depending on the intensity of the color. You dark-haired, tan ladies can pull off the brightest of shades (think Kourtney Kardasian or Olivia Paleramo). I know I’ve mentioned it before, but Urban Decay’s Super Saturated High Gloss Lipcolor is the brightest and best orange I have found! For the fairer girls, Revlon’s ColorBurst Gloss in Papaya will give the illusion that you just had a delicious orange popsicle for dessert.

For your eyes, grab a bright blue shadow and a tiny liner brush and line under your eyes and along the outer edge of your top lid  (the Royal & Langnickel C495 is the perfect size for creating a neatly smudged line). You can combine the blue with your normal brown/black liner for a more subtle look, or use it along for a great pop of color. If you are using it in combination with your regular color, a blue shadow will blend best, but if you are using the blue on it’s own Stila’s smudge pot in Cobalt is a super saturated blue!

For your pretty digits, try a nude manicure with a tangerine accent nail! I love using my ring finer for the accent color, but you can use any nail you prefer. Try using Essie’s Ballet Slippers with Capri and you have a fabulously modern Erdem-inspired mani!
