The Sparkliest Night of the Year!

For all you glamour girls, the sparkling ladies and the glitter lovers, New Years Eve is your night to shine! Glitz and glamour are always appropriate in our book, but what other night in entirely dedicated to putting on a sequin dress, drinking bubbly and dancing the night away? This New Years, welcome in 2012 in the sparkliest way imaginable!

BCBGMAXAZRIA Reeve Navy Sequin Dress, $234 (on sale!), Bloomingdales

This navy BCBG wrap dress is by FAR my favorite frock of the season- the deep blue sequins are unexpected but the silhouette is feminine and flattering. For this dress I would definitely pair it with a messy up-do and smoky eyes! A mix of black and silver would really compliment the colors in the dress. Start by applying a natural shadow over the whole lid for a good base to blend with, then begin to do your smoky eye with a sparkly black like Urban Decay’s eyeshadow in Oil Slick and an eyeshadow brush such as the . Next, come in with a heavily pigmented sliver like this eyedust in a few select spots like your inner corners and the outer lash lines. Finish with copious amounts of mascara, and you’ll be ready for anything come midnight!

Calvin Klein black sequin maxi skirt, $84 (on sale!) Bloomingdales

For a bit of a different look, why not dry this black sequin maxi skirt? Paired with a simple top, such as a white silk tank, you have the freedom to do anything with your makeup. With such a simple color palette, I would definitely jump on the bright lips bandwagon and try a classic red or a vibrant orange! Recently I tried out Urban Decay’s Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color, and let me tell you it has the staying power to withstand an entire New Years Party, including glasses of champagne and a midnight kiss! I recommend Punch Drunk for the perfect not-too-orange-orange. Remember to apply one coat with a lip brush, such as the C600 Silk Lip Brush, blot, apply a powder and then a second coat. Keep your complexion flawless with powder, a kabuki brush (the BKABUKI 17 works wonders!) and a touch of blush on the apples of your cheeks.

Pssarro Night Beaded Mesh Sheath Dress, $158, Nordstrom
Pssarro Night Sequined Silk Shift Dress, $128, Nordstrom

I grouped these two Pssarro Night dresses together because a) more sparkly eye candy! and b) with the simply retro shift silhouette, both of these dresses are just begging to be paired with an exaggerated winged liner! I think the first dress is styled spot-on with the top knot and bangs, so all that needs to be added is a bit of liner, and these girls will be shimmying into the new year with style. If you are looking for a great liquid liner, I would recommend picking up Revlon’s Colorstay Liquid Liner. It is one of the easiest I have used, and it’s extremely affordable! When doing a cat-eye, don’t be afraid to take your time and also don’t be afraid to make the top line extra thick. Start by lining the top of your lash line, then draw a small straight line out to the crease of your lid. Using the smaller line as a guide, fill in the wing and make it as thick and as angled as you like. This look requires not much else besides some bottom-lash mascara and lipgloss so your eyes take center stage!
