Denim on Denim on Denim

The Canadian Tuxedo. The 90’s uniform. Denim on denim. Love it or hate it, denim was all over the Spring’ 11 runways, and it carried right on into the fall shows. And you know what? Even if you do hate it, there was blue in every other form you could imagine. Chambray, cobalt, deep navy… there is a color for you; blue is one of the “IT” colors for fall.

Taking this trend from the runway to your makeup drawer is a cinch! A small pop of cobalt goes a long way, so using it in a small place like your nails or as eyeliner works great. A deep navy on the nails for the fall is insanely chic and a fun twist from the usual black. RGB just came out with a limited-edition deep denim blue for their 15th anniversary, a homage to their small beginnings selling Levi’s.

Chanel also debuted a collection of 3 denim-inspired polishes entitled Les Jeans de Chanel for Fashion’s Night Out on Sept. 8th. They’ll only be available until the end of September, so good luck hunting the department stores for those beautiful blues! If you want to try this trend for cheap, head over to Foever21! Who can say no to nail polish for under $3?

If you want to bring the navy to your face, there’s nothing like a swipe of metallic navy liner to give any color eyes a little unexpected pop. It works with every eye shade and is ridiculously easy to do. Use a small eyeliner brush like the BC495 and dip it in water, then dab on some powder eyeshadow and voila! Insta liner.

I favor Make Up Forever’s Navy Blue 81 because it has a bit of fun shimmer (perfect for a night out!).

Have fun with your new navy looks, because who ever said being blue wasn’t a blast?
