The Cross-Body Craze

If you have taken a look around at the stores this summer, you would have noticed that little cross-body purses are all the rage. I mean, think about it, they leave you hands-free, they don’t slip off your shoulder and they are usually tiny so they don’t weigh a lot! Can you say convenient? When you’re heading out to the bars, having two hands free is key. Even when shopping, being free to use both hands and not worry about dropping your purse makes life a whole lot easier. Can you tell I’m a huge fun of the cross-body? You can find a perfect purse at all price levels this fall:

1. Marc by Marc Jacobs, Little Ukita, $398
2. ASOS, Patent Twist-Lock Saddle Bag, $36
3. Forever 21, Ruched Leatherette Handbag, $16
4. Nasty Gal, Havana, $48
5. River Island, Color Block Cross-Body, $51

Now that you have this tiny, adorable new purse you’re going to have to downsize from the usual 12 pounds of excess stuff you carry around in your regular bag. I got a little Oyster card holder in London, and now I use it for my every day cards. I also have downgraded from a huge planner to a little Moleskine that can be easily tossed into any bag that I’m using.

Now, what used to take up the most room in my bag was my makeup. I’ll be honest, I had a bag within my bag for my cosmetics. But, downgrading is super easy when you use a few handy little tricks. First, get yourself a retractable lip brush like the BC651.

Before you go out, load it with your lipstick of choice so touch-ups on the go are beyond simple! You can do the same with a retractable powder brush like the BC150 and dip it in powder or blush for some more simple fixes.  There also are retractables for the eyes, concealer and more. All these brushes take up less space than makeup would so you have more room for extras like your cell or a little mirror!
